In love with Google Music

Jun 04
2011

Yes, I’m in love. I can finally say it.

Since I first tried Google Music… I don’t know what iTunes is anymore.

Google Music is the new way to listen to your music. You simply upload your music from your computer/s to the cloud. Yes, computers. You can sync up to 8 computers or Android devices.

Once, you’ve uploaded everything… voilá.

You may be wondering… I can listen to my music as I’ve always done! iTunes, Windows Media, Winamp…. and you’re right.
However, can you listen to you music from any computer in the world or from your mobile phone?
Now you can do it easily by simply logging in to your Google account.

What is also amazing is the Android App. You can even listen to your music when you don’t have internet connection!!!!

But love isn’t perfect and I’m missing 2 important features:
- Transfer the music to my iPod
- Download the music! Since I have 3 computers synced I would love to able to download my tunes from Google Music to any of my computers.

But well… let’s see how the future looks like for Google Music!

Nokia joining forces with Microsoft. Ha!

Feb 11
2011

Two turkeys does not make an eagle! What a great phrase and so perfect to illustrate the situation!

With this deal, Nokia confirms that its own platforms, Symbian and Meego, will be tossed onto the bin.
However, is it Windows Mobile a good choice? Do they really think they can compete agains iPhone and Android? Mmmm, I have my doubts.
My hopes were in a Nokia-Android phone. That could be a super phone!

I’ve been a Nokia user for many years until I switched to Android with our first Google Nexus. Nokia has always offered great quality but now they’re just missing the right platform. Android was the platform!!

Again…. this is just my humble opinion but Microsoft?? Really??

Bye bye iPad!

Feb 03
2011

And although I’ve always declared myself Apple’s Fan, you got to admit it… Android Honeycomb is much better (in my opinion)

First, is an open system, it’s fast, efficient, even easier to use and offers total integration with Google Products.
Taking into account that you are probably using a Gmail account, maybe Calendar or Google Docs, Google Maps, Google Books etc. etc. I believe a system that allows you an easy integration for those is great!
What do you want your tablet for? Navigate! Browsing made simple right?

And let’s be honest… how many times do you visit Google.com (or your local domain)? What about YouTube?
iPad was the first and thank you Steve for that great mind of yours, but Android tablets… that’s the future.
As competition is one of the best things that could happen to the final customer, I’m looking forward to see the new version of the iPad. Can you imagine how the future tablets will be? This is just the beginning!

RockMelt: browser review

Dec 17
2010

I’ve been trying RockMelt for a few days and I have to day, it’s a cool idea. It’s only useful if you want to be connected and like to share sites in your Facebook or Twitter account. If you aren’t a “social animal” Rock Melt won’t give you any added value at all.
RockMelt is Chrome plus a social media overlay. But they still have to improve it quite a lot…

It has a some failures:
- When you open it, there’s a pop up appearing to log into Facebook. 90% of the cases the pop up doesn’t really work and it’s just a blank window.
- If you close that pop up without logging into Facebook, there’s nothing more than a simple browser. An exact copy of Chrome. When suddenly you decide to login, all your open tabs close and you’re in new window. Basically you lose what you were doing.
- No notifications for Facebook messages! This is pretty bad. If I receive a message through Facebook I don’t get any notification. You are only notified when someone comments on your status, or likes what you say. Nothing about receiving messages.

Apart from those 3 points, being the last two really annoying, the browser it’s ok.
What surprises me is the search bar. If you search there you see the results in a small window on the side and… there are no ads!!! Just the results. Check the screenshot!

And here it’s the fourth failure: when you click it doesn’t take you to a search page, you literally go to the website. Mmmm… don’t really like it if you’re researching but it’s ok if you want the result to show you a website for which you don’t really know the URL but remember part of it.
